Molise
- Molise is the second-smallest region in Italy. Campobasso is the
regional capital and a regional transport hub. Southwest of Campobasso
are the Roman ruins of Saepinum. The Monti del Matese offer good walking
in summer and good skiing in winter.
Near Isernia is the 700000 years old village which was discovered
in 1979. It is possibly the most ancient settlement in Europe.
The small beach resort of Termoli is a jumping-off point for the Isole
Tremiti.
